Maul: Shadow Lord - Season 1
Movie description: Lurking in the Shadows, former Sith, now-turned crime lord Maul seeks vengeance upon those who've slighted him in the wake of his previous. But as he targets crime bosses, Nico Deemis and Looti Vario, on the city world of Janix, his real plans are just beginning to unfold. While Maul's Shadow Collective may have broken before, his mysterious attacks now point to restoring the deadly alliance - beginning with the Pykes. And his plans grow even more dangerous when he meets the former Jedi Padawan, Devon Izara whose anger with the Empire leaves her a perfect prey of the Dark Side. As Maul's twisted plans unfold, it is clear that his powers across the galaxy will soon sow confusion and chaos to a level that may threaten even the Empire itself.

Chapter 1: The Dark Revenge
[Between 17 BBY and c. 13 BBY] On the metropolis planet of Janix, commotion in the underworlds stirs when a powerful gang of mercenaries (led by Maul) attacks a bank belonging to the crime boss, Nico Deemis. In retaliation, Deemis meets with fellow crime boss, Looti Vario, suspecting him as the culprit for the heist. In an escalation of words, Vario ultimately kills Deemis, but is quickly captured by Janix’s local law enforcement. Maul and his team infiltrate Vario’s prison and capture him, but not before Maul senses an adjacent prisoner who is really a Jedi in hiding named Devon Izara.
Chapter 2: Sinister Schemes
[Between 17 BBY and c. 13 BBY] With Devon Izara and Looti Vario captured by his team, Maul and his loyal mercenaries return to their hideout where Maul slowly attempts to persuade Izara to join him. In fear, Vario makes a deal with Maul to reveal the timing and location of Pyke smuggling operations to Maul in exchange for his life. Maul’s team takes advantage of the intel and begins looting the Pykes at key junctures, causing distress for the Syndicate. Meanwhile, Izara discovers a way to escape her prison cell by using the Force to lift the entire cylindrical cell from its resting place, causing it to slide and crash, forcing the back door open.
Chapter 3: Whispers in the Unknown
[Between 17 BBY and c. 13 BBY] After escaping her prison, Jedi Padawan Devon Izara still cannot escape Maul in the bowels of Janix. Yet the former Sith poses a strange, and intriguing offer- join him and he will teach her to use her powers with purpose against the Empire. Meanwhile, law enforcer Captain Lawson continues to resist contacting the Empire despite his droid sidekick, ‘Two Boots’ admonishment to do so. While Lawson can’t seem to get a handle on the situation, Maul’s evil plans are only beginning.
Chapter 4: Pride and Vengeance
[Between 17 BBY and c. 13 BBY] On Oba Diah, Maul uses Vario’s knowledge of the Pyke Syndicate to infiltrate and kill the syndicate’s leader – Marg Krim, taking over spice trafficking and moving one step further to powerful influence within the galactic economy. Meanwhile, Izara, having escaped Maul, contacts her master and the two of them inform Captain Lawson of where Maul and his gangsters have been lurking on Janix. Gathering a strike team, Lawson heads to confront Maul and his followers, arriving right when Izara and her Master Eeko-Dio Daki confront Maul elsewhere near Maul’s base of operations. A violent battle breaks out, and nearly all of Lawson’s team is killed while Devon and Daki fail to defeat Maul who escapes. With Lawson and the Jedi beaten, their defeat becomes even more terrifying when the blare of Imperial klaxons sounds from above: the Empire has arrived.
Chapter 5: Inquisition
[Between 17 BBY and c. 13 BBY] With the arrival of the Empire, fear is struck into the hearts of the citizens of Janix – and Captain Lawson suddenly becomes a suspect in the city he tried to protect. Soon, the deadly Inquisitor known as First Brother or Marrok begins hunting for Maul while the Jedi, Izara and Daki seek to escape the city before it is too late.
Chapter 6: Night of the Hunted
[Between 17 BBY and c. 13 BBY] When Jedi Eeko-Dio Daki and Devon Izara seek refuge with Captain Brander Lawson and his son, Rylee, the group soon realizes the must work together to have a chance to escape the Empire. Before they can escape though, Imperial LAAT/i gunships surround Lawson’s apartment and the group is forced to fight to escape- including against the deadly Inquisitor Marrok. Through multiple skirmishes throughout the city, the Jedi and lawman are nearly stopped for good until Maul comes to the rescue, helping them escape- but not before Devon and Rylee are separated from Rylee’s father and Izara’s Jedi Master.
Chapter 7: Call to Oblivion
[Between 17 BBY and c. 13 BBY] Stuck with Maul, Devon Izara is conflicted inside, desiring the freedom he offers, but rejecting the Dark Side she can sense within him. Soon, they two duel, while Rylee hides, until the Empire spots them and another battle ensues. In the chaos, Rylee is captured by the Empire and taken for interrogation while Izara escapes Maul and runs- eventually finding her Master Daki and Rylee’s father. Together, the threesome comes up with a daring plan to recover Rylee from the Empire. Meanwhile, Maul and his Shadow Collective are located and attacked by the Empire, with Imperial Inquisitor Marrok joined by fellow Inquisitor, Eleventh Brother who together manage to slowly wear down Maul in a ferocious battle. But just before Maul can be defeated as he is backed into a cave, the former Sith uses his powers to tear the cave ceiling down on his attackers, managing to scare off the Inquisitors before collapsing in exhaustion.
Chapter 8: The Creeping Fear
[Between 17 BBY and c. 13 BBY] After barely surviving an attack by two Inquisitors, Maul wanders the underworld of Janix haunted by his past, but determined not to be defeated. Meanwhile, Captain Lawson and his two new Jedi friends hatch a plan to rescue Lawson’s son, Rylee- with the help of Lawson’s prior droid sidekick who had previously given him away to the Empire: 2B0T- known as “Two Boots.” It’s a risky plan, but the threesome are desperate, and as luck has it, Two Boots decides to help them free Rylee and escape together. Back at Nico Deemis’ headquarters, Maul and his followers receive an interesting call from Crimson Dawn’s Dryden Vos; one that will allow Maul and his followers to escape Janix.
Chapter 9: Strange Allies
[Between 17 BBY and c. 13 BBY] With the chances of escape from the Empire and Janix becoming smaller with every moment, Maul contacts Captain Lawson and the Jedi to offer them a strange alliance: help him escape the city and he will help them escape off of Janix. With the Jedi and former lawman equally desperate, they agree to Maul’s terms and navigate hidden passageways only known to Lawson in hopes of escaping the Empire. But despite their stealth, they are hunted by the Inquisitors, Marrok and Eleventh Brother until a duel ensues and the Jedi, Maul, and the Mandalorian, Rook Kast, escape. But no sooner do they put distance between themselves and the Inquisitors do they run into a deadly and ominous black figure in the fog: Darth Vader himself.
Chapter 10: The Dark Lord
[Between 17 BBY and c. 13 BBY] Terrified by the dark figure looming before them, Maul, Eeko-Dio Daki, and Devon Izara all attack together in hopes of defeating the menace blocking their way. But despite their best attempts- and even with the help of Lawson and Rylee, the group is no match for the powerful figure determined to cut them down. Soon, they are separated with Two Boots, Lawson and his son racing on ahead while the Jedi and Maul continue to fight, managing to collapse rubble on Vader in order to flee. But their escape is short-lived when Dardth Vader catches them from the side, and his Inquisitors catch Devon Izara from up ahead. The duels that ensue are more ferocious than any before- and turn even darker when Maul betrays Master Daki, leaving the Jedi to be impaled through the chest by Vader’s blade. Maul then rescues Izara from the Eleventh Brother, and she, Maul, and Rylee along with Two Boots manage to barely escape Janix and the Empire by boarding Dryden Vos’ starship, with Captain Lawson sacrificing himself for them to make their escape. Enraged by the loss of her master, Devon Izara declares she is ready for Maul to train her in the ways of the Dark Side.
