The Yam’rii, also known as the Huk, were an insectoid sentient species from the Wild Space planet Huk, that were characterized by a triangular-shaped head poised on a long neck, large forward-facing eyes, and prominent upper limbs that were bent and held together at an angle.

The Yam’rii had invaded several planets in their sector, stealing their resources and selling their inhabitants as slaves. The results were horrifying when the Yam’rii focused their attention on Kalee.

Prior to the Clone Wars, the Yam’rii and the Kaleesh were involved in a ruthless war which was devastating. The Kaleesh forces led by Kaleesh Warlord Grievous expelled the Yam’rii from their home, but then the species asked for assistance in an unexpected way. The Galactic Republic and Jedi Order intervened in the disastrous conflict between the two species and supported the Yam’rii, causing Grievous to develop a personal vendetta against them. As a result, hundreds of thousands of Kaleesh starved to death as a punishment.

One Yam’rii was present in Chalmun’s cantina in Mos Eisley, Tatooine, on the day Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi met Han Solo and Chewbacca.
